1963 VW 21 Window Deluxe Samba
Itâs not just a vehicle... more a way of life â¦. Amongst the most beloved vehicle designs ever created, the VW Kombi is traced throughout history and popular culture. Whilst the universally popular microbuses can still be seen parked at surfing spots and camping grounds, there are few worthy to be amongst some of the worldâs finest car collections.
Every Seat is a Window Seat! The Volkswagen Samba Deluxe is widely considered to be one of the most sought-after of all the buses featuring either 21 or 23 windows famous tinted Plexiglass panoramic windows with a Safari style windscreen, a retractable sunroof, double chromium-plated ornamental band, chrome bumper, sill and rear-engine vent trim, two pivoting doors in place of a sliding door, bullet indicator lenses, handsome two-tone paint, rear internal luggage rack, removable rear and middle seat and dash clock.
Designed in the late 1940âs by an automotive retailer, the birth of the Kombi was one of those uninhibited bar-top-napkin moments as its creator essentially stretched the VW Beetle's virtues of simplicity, reliability and affordability and re-marketed them to a broader audience.
Built on the 16th and left the factory on the 17th of October 1963 destined for Australian shores this ultra-rare and very sought after 21-Window âSambaâ with sliding sunroof is available here on the showroom floor today. Presented in White and Sea-Blue coachwork over Grid Grey trim this fully restored example would suit the most fastidious collector.
In 2009 this stunning Volkswagen âSambaâ Deluxe was professionally restored back to bare metal by Kombi Specialist based in Northern NSW. It completed with all new running gear along with the restorerâs signature turnkey 2.3 litre 165 hp CB performance engine providing more usable power for todayâs standards.
