Widely recognized as the first production car to bear the Porsche name, the 356 was designed by Ferdinand Porsche and his son, Ferry Porsche. Rear-engine, lightweight and German precision engineering... sounding familiar? The 356 was the hereditary roots of the Porsche 911 we know today.

Developed over four distinct series the Porsche 356 Pre-A, A, B and C from 1948 - 1965 with only slight changes to the body and improvements in technology, the 356 C was the last revision of the model to make way for the all-new 911.

The 356 C boasted a reworked body design, which was more streamlined compared to its predecessors. It was equipped with a 1.6-litre flat-four engine that churned out 75 horsepower, a bump from the previous model's 60 horsepower thanks to improved camshafts and higher compression ratios.

The chassis received an upgrade as well, with four-wheel disc brakes and a new z-bar front suspension system that ensured precise steering and superior handling. Inside, the 356 C received an updated dashboard layout and revised interior.

The 1964 Porsche 356 C Cabriolet we have here is a meticulously cared for example, presented in Metallic Silver with a Black Interior. The car has matching numbers and has been maintained by RSR Sports Cars, in Adelaide.

Originally delivered to Culver City, California.

Since its arrival in Australia in 1987 from the USA the car has undertaken a nut and bolt restoration. This included an engine and gearbox rebuild, a bare metal respray with all-new Koni Shocks, and suspension componentry.

With 2-fanatical Porsche owners since being imported, the condition that the car has been kept in is a testament to both owners. The latter of whom owned the car for the close to 3 decades.

The car is accompanied by an original handbook and confirmation from Porsche Australia that that the vehicle has matching numbers;

VIN: 161245

ENGINE: 715624

Production of the 356 C Cabriolet ceased in 1965, with a total of 3,265 convertibles manufactured. The 356 C Cabriolet remains a classic example of Porsche's design and engineering expertise and is highly coveted by collectors and enthusiasts today.
