This car was built in 1965 as one of 2 that was run in that years European Formula 2 as works and fitted with the new BRM F2 engine.
Some 7 cars were built and Cooper too the deacon to have its cars entered and rob by Ken Tyrrell on behalf of the works.
The drivers for that works entry for 1965 were John Surtees, Bob Bondurant and principally Jackie Stewart. This car was predominantly driven by Stewart at all UK and European GP's. Incidentally, Stewart was 1964 Formula 3 Champion at that stage.
The car was campaigned by Stewart in some 20 odd races of up to 200 miles over the very extensive season at circuits such as Brands Hatch in the UK.
Whilst the car ran strongly in many races, Stewart's highest placing was 2nd and the car finished 6th overall in the European Championship that year.
The car spent some 12 years in the USA before getting imported into Australia in 1978.
The car was acquired 7 years go from R. Harborow, from where a full restoration of the car was done showing the total of 350k with receipts.
