Porsche 914/6

We are pleased to present to the market, this remarkably preserved 1970 Porsche 914/6. Finished in striking Chrome Yellow over a Black interior, this 914/6 represents Porsche’s leap to becoming the first German manufacturer to bring a mid-engine sports car to market.

Developed in conjunction with Volkswagen, the 914 is easily identifiable by its characteristic short overhangs, long wheelbase and mid-mounted engine. They were offered with two engines; a 4 cylinder, and a 2 Liter Flat 6 from the 911T, which this example is equipped with:
- 82KW of Peak Power produced from a characterful Flat 6
- Power going to the rear wheels through a 5 Speed Manual Transmission
- Weight of under 1000kg
- Only 3318 units of the 914/6s ever built
- Displaying a modest mileage of just 78,923

This example has benefitted from a complete restoration by Brian Clerihan, founder of the Porsche 914 Club of Australia, including conversion to RHD, and retains its matching chassis and engine numbers. This extremely rare factory 6 Cylinder has also been treated to:
- Upgraded Brakes
- Shortened Gear Ratios
- Porsche Certificate or Authenticity.
- Momo Cavallino Steering Wheel

The 914 was Porsche’s attempt at a more entry level sports car, and holds great historical pedigree for the brand:
- The brands first use of Glass Fiber reinforced Plastic
- Placed 6th Overall in the Lemans 24 Hour Race (1970)
- Was the first safety car used in Formula 1 (1973 Canadian Grand Prix)
- Ignition on the left of the steering wheel (Only found on the 914/6), an homage to the Porsche 356
