One of the finest E-Types on the planet!
The Jaguar E-Type was first revealed on 15 March 1961 in Geneva to huge excitement from the world’s press. Sir William Lyons, the founder of Jaguar, realised that he had something very special upon the car’s debut and so had a second car delivered overnight from Coventry to Switzerland in order to accommodate more test runs at the show.
The E-Type was a revolutionary car in many ways, but it was Malcolm Sayer’s beautiful bodywork that set it apart from anything else on the road. With its faired-in headlamps, a long, sculpted nose and centred twin exhaust, there was nothing else like it and the car remains a unique proposition today. The E-Type is still considered by many to be one of the greatest car designs ever, with Enzo Ferrari famously describing it as “the most beautiful car in the world.”
Fast forward 57 years and with great delight we have the unique & extremely special honour of offering a tailor-made Jaguar Semi Lightweight fast road spec, finished in Rolls-Royce Midnight Blue metallic with St James Red Connolly hide & Dark Blue Wilton carpets. On first impressions this car oozes class, you immediately notice the car is de-bumpered then your eyes are drawn to the wide profile, 6×16 Torrino alloy and chrome wire wheels with custom made engraved 2 ear spinners. sitting on low profile tyres. Then you are drawn to the custom made aluminium bonnet which is de-seamed with a deep fronted valance. Moving back, we find the flared out handmade rear wings twinned with the wide Torrino spoke wheels.
With a whopping 3057 man-hours spent alone into hand crafting the body (not including the mechanical rebuild) every element, no matter how small, has been given the highest of priority and attention to detail. Starting with the cockpit it is like being inside a car designed for 007, with hidden secret switches for the heated seats & electronic power steering, then the secret compartment at the back of the glove box. The secret flap opens up to reveal a state of the art radio with DAB, iPod connection and Blue tooth function. The car comes with custom made lightweight sports seats with inertia seats belts & period chrome fittings. Centrally we find the hand rolled polka dot aluminium gear box tunnel and above, bespoke crafted vents housing the air conditioning outlets. The interior is finished off with period instruments, Moto Lita steering wheel & machined turned alloy gear knob.
Built for fast road use, the engine has been: bored out to 4.7 spec with large up-rated valves, upgraded water pump, timing chains, forged con-rods, custom flywheel, large bore oil pump, forged pistons, electronic fuel injection, hand polished cam box covers, braised cooling pipes, up-rated race cooling system including large cooling fan, aluminium lightweight radiator and header tank, complete stainless steel exhaust system including the manifold, electronic ignition, high output starter motor, 4-pot AF Racing brake calipers with large ventilated brake discs, Koni adjustable shock absorbers, modern electric fuel pump, silicone hoses, halogen headlights, modern alternator with V-belt with aluminium pulley upgrades, up-rated power steering mounts, up-rated torsion bars with adjustable height conversion, up-rated anti roll bar drop links and bushes, high power brake servo with polished stainless steel heat shield, up-rated rear suspension mounts plus anti roll bar links & bushings.
